Meet Our

Founders

VOCAL founders (left to right) Linda Norman, Lauren Carpenter and Kate Rengel united in 2015 to become a force for change for companion animals that were falling through the cracks in our community. Overpopulation was out of control and pets were dying in shelters by the thousands. They knew that they needed a plan to help them and decided that addressing overpopulation at its root cause would be the initial goal. That was when they formulated a plan to open a low-cost spay-neuter clinic to serve pet owners at every income level and give support to the rescue community as well as good Samaritans who help the strays.

Today, the VOCAL Clinic and Community Resource Center is sterilizing 5000 cats and dogs each year and has expanded its services to include wellness care and specialty surgeries. While the clinic remains at the heart of VOCAL’s services to the community, the Rescue Food program and Project Feed is also essential; feeding animals in 10 counties and providing food to rescues and municipal shelters.

VOCAL’s Shelter, Foster and Adoption programs are still an integral component of solving the homeless pet problem puzzle, but the founders know that pet homelessness will ultimately be solved by a caring and compassionate community that strongly believes in the mission.
